ATMs are a quick and easy way to withdraw cash, transfer or deposit funds, or make loan payments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Members can withdraw up to $1,000 per day from their account using their ATM/Debit Card. When withdrawing from a Line of Credit at another financial institution's ATM, press 'other' or 'credit card'.  Members can withdraw up to $3,000 per day using their ATM/Debit Card for a POS (debit) transaction on their chequing or savings account.

In addition to using all Comtech Fire ATMs at no charge, look for ATMs displaying THE EXCHANGE® logo. THE EXCHANGE® Network gives you convenient access to your accounts at 2532 full-service ATMs across Canada without paying additional charges. THE EXCHANGE® Network ATM locator app is now available as a free download for smartphones, tablets and GPS devices. THE EXCHANGE® Network is the largest full-function ATM network in Canada - surcharge free.

Shopping using an ATM/Debit Card is an incredibly popular way to pay for purchases or receive cash back. With your Credit Union ATM/Debit Card, you can use Interac Direct Payment at more than 300,000 retailers throughout Canada, including grocery stores, department stores, gas stations, restaurants, and other retail locations. When shopping in the USA, look for the ACCEL symbol.

Save Money!

Ask the merchant for cash back when using your debit card for a retail purchase. An ATM withdrawal from another financial institution can cost $1.50 per transaction while the maximum cost of a POS transaction is only 50¢ and many of our chequing packages offer free POS transactions!

Your ATM/Debit Card will be mailed to you the same day your application is received and your personal identification number (PIN) will be mailed two days later for security precautions. You can customize your PIN by visiting your branch.

Without both your PIN and card, no one else has access to your account.

PIN PRECAUTIONS Expand/Collapse

  • When choosing a PIN, don't use a predictable number combination like your birthday, address or telephone number
  • Use different PINs for each card or entry access
  • Never carry your PIN and ATM/Debit Card together
  • Never give your PIN to someone else

ATM Held Funds Policy

Cheques or cash deposited in a Comtech Fire ATM or an ATM that is part of the Exchange Network will be held as follows:

  • Cheques drawn on a Canadian financial institution - 5 days
  • Cash - For Comtech Fire ATM, hold is removed the following business day. Exchange ATM - 5 days.
  • U.S. cheques drawn on a Canadian financial institution - 5 days
  • U.S. cheques drawn on a U.S. financial institution - 30 days
  • Canadian cheques deposited greater than $5000 may be held for 30 days
